{SUYL Home Tour: Guest Bedrooms}

Today's link up on Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life Home Tour is guest bedrooms! I had 2 guestrooms, but since I rarely have guests, I recently decided to turn one room into an office {that link up will be next week}.

My original plan was to shiplap the wall behind the bed, but I ultimately decided to do my master bedroom instead.  So, I painted the room white hoping I would the same look.

Not so much.

Needless to say, I'll be shiplapping a wall in here soon. =)

This was my first room to redo with a little nod to Joanna Gaines.  I saw a room in her bed & breakfast that I fell in love with & I knew I wanted to do this room in black & white.  No, it's not colorful & cheery, but I really do love it.
I LOVE the black iron bed...too bad it's just on "loan" until my brother & sister-in-law build their house.  I need to start looking for a replacement soon. =(  The white bedding was purchased on Joss & Main & the round mirrors behind the bed were purchased from Kohl's.

I have been on the lookout for an old wooden chair & I found this one at a garage sale this past weekend for $2 bucks!! I'm still deciding if I like this lamp if you notice the tag still hanging on it.=)  I'm also on the lookout for a cute pillow and/or throw to put on the chair.
And this lamp was a $4 thrift store find!
Of course, no Joanna Gaines room would be complete without a magnolia wreath.  Although I must confess, I did not shell out $100 bucks for one at Magnolia Market...I bought this one for half the price on Decor Steals {& it's bigger}.
One thing I really wish I could afford is to have a professional photographer come take shots of my house.  Clearly I am terrible at it {because the lighting is bad in most rooms} so I feel like the pictures don't do the room justice.  So you kinda have to use your imagination a little. =)  Thanks for stopping by & don't forget to come back next week for a tour of my office!  You can also follow me on Instagram.

  1. Hi! I came over from Kelly's and love black and white rooms. It's so easy to change out the colors, or simply add a bright fun pillow for an easy change. I had a black and white room in college and would totally do it again if I had a guest room.

  2. I think the room is beautiful! I'm not sure about that one lamp either. I really like the white with black shade. So not sure what you should do! But don't sell yourself short, it is gorgeous!

  4. I popped in from the link up--I have really enjoyed viewing your home these last few weeks. Everything you do is just fabulous and I love that (from what I can tell) you are a woman with your own home. I went straight from an apartment (I had a roommate so it wasn't just mine) to my husband's house, which he purchased before we were married. We have since had two houses, but I never had one of my own--it is such a special thing you have. I hope my girls grow up to get that sense of independence and empowerment for awhile.

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, unfortunately I haven't met "the one" yet so it's just me. This is actually the 2nd house I have built & owned on my own. I do look forward to hopefully getting married & having a family one day. But I am also very thankful for the opportunities to travel & "be me" that being single has allowed.
