{SUYL Home Tour: Laundry Room}

Welcome back Show Us Your Life folks!  Today's link up on Kelly's Korner is bonus rooms/playrooms, but since I don't have one of those I am going to be a rebel & show y'all my laundry room {because I love it that much}!

When I first moved into my house, I knew I wanted to go "bold" in there.  I had seen navy walls on Pinterest & loved it...so navy it was! And I did love the navy for almost 2 years.  Then one day, I was scrolling through Instagram & came across a laundry room that was painted black & it was love at first sight.  I have a wall of white painted built-ins {one of the things that sold me on this house} and my washer & dryer are white so I was convinced I could pull it off.

Thankfully Sherwin Williams was running a 40% off sale that week so I went in on a Friday & purchased a gallon of Tricorn Black paint.  I came home that night & painted and y'all - I am in LOVE.  I am absolutely thrilled with how it came out. {once again, it's a hard room to photograph since it doesn't get any natural light}

I added a wooden shelf above the washer & dryer to hold the necessities and a new rug {from Ikea}.  A few new accessories & I think it's perfect!

If you are on the fence about painting a room a dark and/or bold color - go for it!!  Don't get me wrong, I love the light & bright feel of white...but I'm loving the black. You can also read about my DIY laundry basket here.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Next week is kitchens so be sure to stop back by.  Follow me on Instagram as well!

{Weekend Recap: Shop til You Drop}

Happy Tuesday folks!  Hard to believe it's the last week in July, but I am so ready for fall!  I can't wait for the return of college football & I am itching to put out my pumpkins.  Don't worry, I'm not {yet} but I am counting down the days!

Last Wednesday, a friend of mine texted & asked if I wanted to take off on Friday and go to the Magnolia Warehouse sale.  How did I not hear about this?!  I did a little research & sure enough, it started at 8am on Friday at the Waco expo center.  My initial thought was - that means I'm going to have to to get up at 4:30am & leave by 5:30am...why the the heck would I want to do that?!  But then I thought about all the Magnolia goodness.  Another friend said she would ride up with me so I figured what the heck & agreed to go.

Thursday night, the Blue Bell ladies had a girl's night....maybe not the smartest thing to do before a 4:30am wake-up call {seeing as I'm not as young as I used to be}, but we had a blast!  These ladies are the best.
Friday morning came way too early, but Kelly & I were on the road by 5:30.  We arrived at the expo center shortly after 7:30 & met up with Carol {she had driven in from Killeen}.  There was a line, as expected, but honestly - it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
They opened the doors at 8am & it was a lot like Black Friday shopping.  It got pretty crazy pretty quick, but the Magnolia folks had everything very organized.  Everything was sorted & labeled by price. A majority of the stuff was "scratch & dent" from the store, but if you dug - you could often find items that were perfectly fine.  I was expecting stuff to be maybe 25% off, but most everything was 50%-75%+.  I was very pleasantly surprised by the prices.
In total, I got around $300 worth of stuff for $75.  I could have spent a LOT more if money were endless, but I really do love everything I got.  I bought a metal blanket ladder for $20, a wooden tray, chalkboard, metal bucket & candle holder for $10 each, and a salt & pepper shaker, a few votive cups & a towel bar for $1 each!
We shopped & checked out by 9am so we decided to head over to the silos.  Because everyone was at the warehouse sale, it was relatively quiet at the market.  We looked around & then went to the bakery for cupcakes {which wasn't open yet when I was there in May}.  First of all, I am absolutely IN LOVE with the design of the bakery.  All of the black, white & wood has me swooning.  And y'all, those cupcakes were the absolute BEST.  I had a bite of the shiplap, strawberries & cream, nuts & bolts and chocolate peanut butter cup.  Thank goodness it's 2+ hours away or I would go every day!!

After the silos, we decided to head over to Clint's shop - Harp Design Co.  I'll be honest, I was very disappointed by this.  The stuff he sold was more modern & what he did have was really over priced.  We stayed about 5 minutes & left.  But, it was cool to see his shop  & their house that Chip & Joanna redid for them which is right next door.
After a quick trip to Tuesday Morning & lunch at Cheddars, we headed home.  Loved spending the day with my 2 besties...such a fun girl's trip for sure.  But I have to document this...we all got cupcakes to go & given that it's Texas and it was 105 outside, there was no way we could leave them in the car.  So, every store we went into, we packed our cupcakes in with us. =)
Saturday was Colby & Jodie's house warming party {I believe I have mentioned that they recently moved back to town & built a house in my subdivision so we are now neighbors!}.  This little cutie came home with me for a slumber party & of course Nola was in heaven!  Morgan is definitely her favorite person of all time!
Sunday - mom, Morgan & I headed to Katy to do a little shopping.
And after a month & a half of no rain, we FINALLY got some yesterday! We are supposed to get some again today & I certainly hope we do...cause I am so over dragging around a water house & watering my yard.
Check back on Friday because I will be linking up with Kelly's Korner home tour to show my newly painted BLACK laundry room! =)

{SUYL Home Tour: Home Offices}

Howdy y'all!  Today's link up on Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life Home Tour is home offices! I had 2 guestrooms, but since I rarely have guests, I recently decided to turn one room into an office.  I had a small desk in there, but hardly ever used it because there was no room; it was more there for "looks".  I like to scrapbook from time to time, but it was always a pain because I would have stuff on the bed, on the floor, on a card table...

My brother & sister-in-law recently moved and one thing they didn't want to move to their new house was a large L-shaped desk.  I was in the market for one so it worked out for the both of us.

Welcome to my office!

The desk was a dark red/cherry wood color....but nothing that a can of chalk paint can't fix!  I love all the storage for my scrapbook stuff, as well as all the surface space.  I am still looking for a few desk accessories to finish it off.
Even before I decided to turn my guestroom into an office, I sold the small desk that was in there & began my search for an old dresser that I could redo & use for storage...for things like gift bags, Christmas gift wrapping supplies, etc.  I found an old dresser on an online garage sale site for $80 bucks.  A coat of black chalk paint {I love that stuff, can you tell?!} & it was perfect for what I was needing.
The frame with quote was an idea I stole from an episode of Fixer Upper, the test tube vase was one of my purchases when I went to Magnolia Market in May, the metal piece was a purchase at the Round Top/Warrenton Antique Festival this spring, the lantern was from a Pottery Barn outlet store & the window is from my grandparent's house.
That's it!  It's not a huge space, but I LOVE the tall ceilings & it serves its purpose well.
And just as my daily reminder...
Thanks for stopping by!  Next week the link up is for bonus rooms/play rooms...but since I don't have those - I am going to post my newly painted back laundry room!  =) You can also follow me on Instagram.

{Show & Tell Tuesday: Home Tours}

Today I am linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for Show & Tell Tuesday: Home Tours. I love, love, LOVE these link ups because I love taking a peek inside people's homes to get decor ideas.  I have been in my house for almost 2 years now & my style is constantly changing.  I get bored easily & love changing things up.  I have jumped on the Fixer Upper/Joanna Gaines train recently...right now I am loving the whole black, white & wood look so I am incorporating that into my house little by little.

I recently did a home tour blog post for each room in my house for another link up so I was going to use that.  Funny thing is?   Most of the rooms have already changed & it's only been a month!  Going through the pictures & seeing all that got me thinking - man, maybe I do have a problem.  Ha! =)  Needless to say, this link up snuck up on me & I didn't get a chance to take pictures of some of the new stuff.

Welcome to my house!
One of my guestrooms recently made the change from guestroom to office.  Since I never used it & I was offered a large desk free of charge {all it needed was a new paint job}, I decided to change it into an actual office/craft room. I love having a space dedicated to scrapbooking, projects, etc.  Sorry!!  It's not complete so no pics of this space.  =(

My other guestroom recently got a mini makeover as well. A fresh coat of white paint & a few new touches and I think Joanna would approve.=)

My guest bathroom is the one room I added color to the walls & I love it!
When I built my new house, the one thing I did want this time around was open concept.  I love being able to entertain & have everyone in on the action.  Since these pictures were taken, I have changed/added decor & added a coffee table {see!  I told ya...I have a problem!!}  But, I think it makes the space feel so much more cozy.

I recently I saw a laundry room with black {yes, BLACK!} walls & I fell in love.  Call me crazy, but I felt like I had enough white in there so I could pull it off.  Thankfully Sherwin Williams had a 40% off sale this weekend so my navy laundry room became black Friday night & I absolutely LOVE it!!  What you can't see in this picture is that the opposite wall in a solid wall of built-ins which are painted white.  I still need a few finishing touches but it might be my new favorite room. {& this was taken at 11:30pm when I finished...so it's not the best pic}
My master bedroom also recently received an update {are you seeing a pattern here?!} & I am so pleased with how it turned out.  I have wanted shiplap in there since the whole Fixer Upper craze started & y'all - I love it.  I can't wait to shiplap a few other walls now. =)

I have a HUGE backyard...perfect for a pool, don't you think?!  Too bad that doesn't fit in the budget.  One day maybe.  In the mean time, Nola absolutely loves playing fetch in the open space & chasing birds.

Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to tour all of your homes!  If you want to keep up with my ever-changing house, follow me on instagram!
