{It Is What It Is: Kenney Store}

About 8 miles south of town, there is a not-so-hidden-anymore little gem known as the Kenney Store.  Although it has been there for decades, it wasn't until Tony & Rita Krueger purchased it in 2013 that its true potential came shining through.  The once feed store turned dance hall has charm & character that makes you feel right at home.  Their moto: "it is what it is". And that's the exact care-free attitude you get once you walk through those doors.

There is live music every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday night...from local up & coming artists to sold-out concerts from famous folks like Johnny Lee, Daryl Singletary & Charlie Robison.  Every Thursday night, KARMA {Kenney Area Rural Music Association} performs.  You can sit back & just enjoy the show or do a little two-stepping on the wooden dance floor.

Great atmosphere?  Check.  Great Music? Check.  Cold Beer?  Check.  Friendly folks? Check.  What more could you ask for?  Great food of course.  And they have that too.  The kitchen is open every night {except Mondays}, serving up anything from hamburgers to quesadillas, ribeyes & from what I hear - one of the best chicken fried steaks around.  You can check out their menu here.

Not quite ready to call it a night after the wine stroll in downtown Brenham, some friends & I headed out for the first time back in January 2014.  The music was loud, the beer was cold, the atmosphere was perfection.
And it's hard not to instantly fall in love.
